Lesbian Christine Quinn Not Endorsed By Rabbi Shaul Robinson

This past Shabbos, mayoral candidate and lesbian Christine Quinn was invited by a shul member at the Lincoln Square shul in Manhattan.

Rabbi Shaul Robinson allowed his gabbai to make an announcement right after davening that people would have the "opportunity" to meet with Quinn.

In an e-mail, Robinson implied that he wanted to have the opportunity for his shul to meet other candidates as well, and he believed that it is against the law to invite only the candidate he supports.

He also indicated that he would allow any candidate to visit his shul if asked.

Robinson strongly opposes homosexual marriages and made clear in his e-mail that he did not endorse Quinn.

However, Robinson did allow his shul to march in the Israeli Gay Parade.  It is questionable if Robinson was aware of the last minute ban against the Israeli Day Parade, or if he relied on Yisroel Belsky's heter.
